Despite President Lee Jae Myung’s keynote address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly, in which he articulated the vision of a “responsible global power,” discussion of the concrete methods and strategies for realizing that vision remains limited. This session seeks to reaffirm the continuity and distinctiveness of this concept within the domains of the Republic of Korea’s diplomacy, security, and national defense, and to frame it as a new horizon for K-Diplomacy. It also aims to identify the new modes of thinking and practical approaches needed to transform diplomacy so that it both advances national interests and reflects the Republic of Korea’s elevated international standing.
