Biography

Dr. KIM Bo Mi is the Director of North Korean Studies and a Research Fellow at the Institute for National Security Strategy. Her research focuses on North Korean military affairs, including WMD programs, party-military relations, and military diplomacy.
Dr. KIM is currently serves on the Policy Advisory Committee of the Office of the Inter-Korean Dialogue at the Ministry of Unification. She previously served as an advisory committee member for the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff and as a member of the Policy Advisory committee of the Bureau of Intelligence and Analysis at the Ministry of Unification. She also served as a non-executive director of the Korean Institute for Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control (KINAC) for six years. In addition, she was a member of the Panel on Peace and Security of Northeast Asia (PSNA), hosted by the Research Center for Nuclear Weapons Abolition (RECNA) at Nagasaki University.
She holds a Ph.D. in North Korean Studies from the University of North Korean Studies and B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
