The government has been promoting the RIS project since 2020 in order to respond to the disappearance of local governments across the country, including Jeju and the metropolitan area, due to population decline and the outflow of local talent to the metropolitan area. Jeju Island wased for a business contest last year, and for the second year this year, it is operating a regional innovation platform, including Jeju Island and Jeju National University, to foster talent, support businesses, and increase youth settlement in the region. As the RIS project, a community cooperation model, is scheduled to be converted to the RISE system next year with the participation of local governments, universities, and companies, we are seeking to explore the role of the Jeju Regional Innovation Platform to move toward a sustainable Jeju.
