Heon Young KIM has been the 11th and 12th president of Kangwon National University since 2016. President KIM has held various positions for the development of higher education as the 24th Chairmen of the Korean Council for University Education (2019), a Member of the Presidential Korean Council on Education (2019), Chairman of the Higher Education Policy Joint TF (2019, Chairman of the College Admission Policy Advisory Meeting (2023), Chairman of the Special Committee for the Revitalization of Local Universities under the Presidential Committee on National Balanced Development (2023).
He was the president of The Korean Society for Technology of Plasticity and Materials Processing (2023), and is an Emeritus Member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (2021-) and an Advisory Committee Member of the Constitutional Court of Korea (2020-).
