Professor Dong-Won KIM holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Seoul National University, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering from Hokkaido University, Japan. He has served as Dean of the College of Engineering at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), Director of the Industrial Foundation at JBNU, and Director of the Innovation Hub Center for Engineering Education at JBNU, and served as the 18th President of Jeonbuk National University from 2019 to January 2023. He has been actively involved in lectures and policy development activities on regional balanced development through innovation in higher education. In 2023, with the support of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, he visited the Saxony and Dresden region in Germany to conduct a policy study on regional innovation and local government-industry-academia cooperation.
