Session

A Special Educational Freedom Zone that Starts a New Local Era of Decentralization and Balanced Development

All the resources were in the metropolitan area, so by the end of 2019, the population of the metropolitan area had reached more than half of Korea's total population for the first time. As a result, problems like rising housing prices and traffic congestion are getting worse in the metropolitan area, while non-metropolitan are facing severe labor shortages and an aging population, which slows down the local economy and makes it harder for people from different generations and regions to get along.
So, if we start a new local era, we can get decentralization and balanced development, and we can give fair chances to the provinces so that they can grow on their own and get away from the metropolitan area, which is too centralized.
In this session, we want to talk about the """"Special Education Freedom Zone"""" as the driving force of the new local era and share advanced cases from both inside and outside of Korea.
I hope that this will give us a chance to think together so that we can start a new era of fairness, autonomy, and hope, where we can solve the problems our society is facing and have the same opportunities no matter where we live.
