Biography
현을생은 1974년 지방행정직 공무원으로 임용되어 40여 년간 제주도에서 공직생활을 해 왔으며, 현재는 서귀포시문화도시추진위원장을 맡는 등 지역문화와 관련된 일을 하고 있다. 공직생활 중에는 제주시 자치행정국장, 제주특별자치도 기획관, 환경국장, 서귀포시장 등 자치분권과 환경, 문화행정을 주로 담당하였으며, 사진작가로도 활동하며 제주지역의 정체성과 관련된 주제의 작품활동을 계속 하고 있다. 제주대학교 일반대학원 행정학과 박사과정을 수료 했으며, 공직생활의 공적을 인정받아 2017년 홍조근정훈장을 수여 받았다.
Hyun eul saeng was appointed as a local administrative official in 1974 to devote 40+ years to public service in Jeju, until she retired to work for the local culture acceleration as a chairman of Seogwipo Culture and Urban Promotion Committee. During her public life, she was mainly responsible for decentralization, environment, and cultural administration, serving as Jeju Administration Director, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Planning Director, Environment Director, and Mayor of Seogwipo. She also has been contributing to the solid identity of Jeju with her art works as a photographer during and post public life. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Jeju National University and was awarded the Order of Service Merit in 2017.
