Biography
고려대학교에서 경제학학사 석사, 영국 맨체스터대학교에서 경제학석사 박사학위를 취득했다. 한국은행 외환연구팀장, 통화연구실장, 금융경제연구원 부원장, 동남아중앙은행 선임연구위원, 조사국장을 역임했다. 한국경제연구원 초빙연구위원, 고려대학교 경제학과 교수, 건국대 정보통신대학원 금융IT학과 특임교수를 역임했다. 한국국제금융학회 회장, 아시아금융학회 회장을 역임하고 현재는 한국금융ICT융합학회(FICA) 회장, 자유시장연구원 원장. 선진경제전략포럼 회장, 대한민국정상화포럼 대표, 유튜브 경제방송 “오정근의 쏙쏙경제” 대표로 언론기고 방송출연 등 활발한 활동을 하고 있다. 최근에는 20대 대통령 선거 국민의힘 선거대책본부 공약비교위원회 위원장과 20대 대통령직인수위원회 지역균형발전특별위원회 간사위원으로 활동하였다. 주요 저서로 『대한민국 정상화플랜』(공저) 『창조경제 기반구축을 위한 정책과제』(공저) 『주요국의 가계부채조정과정과 정책대응 분석』(공저), The Korean Economy: Post-Crisis Policies, Issues and Prospects(공저), 『구조전환기의 한국 통화금융정책』(편저), 『경제정책의 유효성』(공저), 『금융위기와 금융통화정책』, (제12회 자유경제출판문화상 수상) (문화관광부 선정 우수학술도서), 『민부론』(공저), 『징비록』(공저), 『급격한 최저임금 인상이 일자리와 분배에 미치는 영향』(공저), 『어게인 살기 좋은 대한민국』(편저), 『팍스 아메리카나 3.0 : 다시 미국이다』(공저) 등 20권의 저서와 60여편의 학술저널 발표논문이 있다.

John Junggun OH is currently President, Korea Finance ICT Convergence Association (FICA). He was formerly Professor of Finance IT., Konkuk University, Professor of Economics, Korea University, Seoul, Korea, Senior Visiting Research Fellow of Korea Economic Research Institute (KERI), Seoul, Korea, President, Asia Finance Society (AFS), and President, Korea International Finance Association (KIFA).
Before joining Korea University in 2009, he worked as Director of Research, South East Asian Central Banks (SEACEN), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Director General of the Bank of Korea where he has served for 30 years. He was also a Visiting Fellow, The IFO Institute for Economic Research, Munich, Germany, and has been an external consultant, UN ESCAP (Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific).
