Biography
김병준은 미국 델라웨어 대학교 정치학 박사 학위를 취득하고 국민대학교 행정학과 교수로 재직하고 있다. 도시행정, 지방행정, 지방자치, 정책학이 전공이며, 우리나라의 지방자치, 지방분권 분야를 개척하였다. 대통령 정책실장, 부총리, 교육인적자원부 장관 등을 역임하였고, 제20대 대통령직 인수위원회 지역균형발전특별위원회 위원장 활동을 하였다.
1994년 저술한 지방자치론은 지금도 대학 행정학과에서 교과서로 널리 쓰이고 있으며 이론뿐만 아니라 실무적인 문제에도 관심이 많아 시민운동에 직접 참여하기도 하였다. 제16대 노무현 전 대통령직 인수위원회 정무분과 간사위원으로도 활동하였으며, 재임기간에는 정책기획위원회 위원장과 대통령 정책 특별보좌관을 역임하였다. 현재는 제20대 대통령직인수위원회 지역균형발전특별위원장을 맡고 있다.
Byung-Joon Kim obtained a doctorate in political science from the University of Delaware, USA and is currently a professor in the Department of Public Administration at Kookmin University. He majored in urban administration, local administration, local autonomy, and policy studies, and pioneered the fields of local autonomy and decentralization in Korea. He served as the head of the Presidential Policy Office, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Education and Human Resources, etc. And he is a chairman of the 20th Presidential Transition Commission, Special Committee for Regional Balanced Development.
