Cooperation and Co-existence Through Green ODA: GGGI’s Decade and Beyond

In commemoration of the tenth anniversary of GGGI, this session looks at the past decade of GGGI's projects to understand the implications of Green ODA in the larger framework of building cooperation and peace around the world.
GGGI, as an embodiment of the spirit of international cooperation envisioned by its founders, has seen phenomenal growth just as the demand for a carbon-neutral economy has grown internationally, as seen from the efforts in energy transition and institutionalization of emissions trading system.
As Green Diplomacy aims to provide """"Green"""" as public goods to the international community, cooperation and solidarity among countries, international organizations, and civil society can contribute to the establishment of an """"international order based on co-existence and cooperation.""""
Simultaneously, GGGI has long faced conflict due to competition among local stakeholders and challenges due to the characteristic of each country’s social system and culture when implementing projects.
With old but new geopolitical conflicts breaking out recently, the international solidarity and efforts towards the green transition might encounter new challenges, including diversion of global attention from Green ODA.
This session invites the government, public/research institutions, international organizations, and private and public civil society who are key actors of the """"Green"""" sector to examine the ten-year experience of GGGI and discuss the future prospect of GGGI.
