김연규 교수는 한양대학교 국제학부 교수이자 에너지거버넌스 센터장으로 국제에너지안보 문제를 주로 연구해왔으며 최근에는 글로벌공급망문제와 희토류 핵심광물 자원안보 를 다루는 저서 <가난한 미국 부유한 중국> 을 지난 4월에 출간하였다. 2021년 8월부터 2022년 4월까지 산업통상자원부 자원안보진단위원회 민간위원장으로서<자원안보 특별법> 제정을 위한 활동을 하였다. 2021년 3월부터 현재까지 한국일보 <에너지의 정치경제학> 칼럼도 집필해오고 있다.

Younkyoo Kim is Professor in the School of International Studies, Hanyang University. He is also Director of the Center for Energy Governance & Security at Hanyang University. His main research area is international energy security. Recently, he published , a book dealing with global supply chain issues and the security of rare earth minerals. From August 2021 to April 2022, he worked for the enactment of the as the civilian chairman of the Resource Security Diagnosis Committee of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. From March 2021 to the present, he has also been writing a column for the Korean Daily .
