How did China, Japan and Korea manage human security emergencies brought by the COVID-19 pandemic? Many of their solutions were high-tech and advanced, hence quick and efficient. Were they, however, inclusive and accessible to all members of society?
China, Japan and Korea all place high importance on improving citizens’ quality of life by achieving sustainable, equitable and balanced social development. Considering that the three countries share common challenges like aging societies and side effects of rapid digitalization, this session hopes to combine those themes to explore smart yet inclusive solutions that ensure the security and safety of all populations, especially vulnerable groups. The session will discuss holistic and equitable means for the three countries to enhance the society’s inclusiveness in everyday and emergency response management, with a focus on solutions for the aging society in the era of big data and digital economy utilizing smart city technology.
