Session

Saemaul Undong, the Key for Global Cooperation and Coexistence

The Saemaul Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government of the Republic of Korea to serve the calls from the international community to share the Saemaul Undong development experience.
Since its establishment in November 2012, the Foundation carried on and expanded the endeavor of the provincial government which started in 2005 in Vietnam.
The UN along with other international organizations including OECD acknowledged Saemaul Undong as the most effective development model for developing countries while Jeffrey Sacks from Columbia University, a special adviser to former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, lauded Saemaul Undong as the critical driving force for attaining the SDGs set by the UN.
The session aims to showcase the value of Saemaul Undong as the key for global cooperation and coexistence by introducing the works carried out in Vietnam for last ten years.
