Biography
이상우는 1971년 대한민국 대구 출생으로 정치외교학 박사를 취득하고 새마을재단에 입사해 개발도상국 농촌발전을 위한 새마을운동 사업을 활발하게 펼치고 있다. 지구촌 불평등 문제를 해소하는데 관심을 갖고 있던 중 개발도상국 농촌발전의 모멘텀으로서의 새마을운동의 중요성을 인식하고 새마을운동을 개발도상국에 전수하는 활동을 하고 있다. 이상우는 베트남사무소 소장을 역임하였으며, 소장 재임 중 베트남 새마을운동연구소를 개소하고 베트남 새마을국제포럼을 개최하였다. 본부에서는 해외 새마을시범마을 조성사업, 새마을초청연수 등을 수행하였고, 현재 재단 전략기획팀에서 재단 전략수립 및 기획업무를 담당하고 있다.
Sang-Woo LEE acquired a doctorate in political diplomacy and joined the Saemaul Foundation. He recognizes the importance of the Saemaul Movement as a momentum for rural development in developing countries, and is working on applying and practicing the Saemaul Undong methodology to rural areas in developing countries. Also, he served as the director of the Vietnamese office, and while serving as the director, he opened the Institute of Saemaul Undong-Rural Development in Vietnam and held the Saemaul International Forum. He has conducted overseas Saemaul pilot village projects and Saemaul invitation training, and is currently in charge of strategic establishment and planning in strategic planning department.
