Partnering for Asia Water Issue Dissemination & Water Welfare Enhancement

Asia is the most vulnerable region to water problems including droughts, floods, and water contamination caused by climate change, population growth, and urbanization. Therefore, in order to enhance sustainable development growth, water and sanitation (WASH), which is essential for human survival and economic activities, is the primary task for all.
However, the international interest in Asia water issues is inadequate and it is necessary to invigorate cooperation within the region to derive practical solutions. In this regard, major international organizations, such as AECD, ADB, GGGI and GCF, are planning to share studies and recent matters on Asia water security and governance, and putting utmost effort to facilitate coordinated actions from diverse stakeholders from government, finance, and private sectors in hopes to plan and operate water projects.
In particular, by introducing the major activities of the Asia Water Council (AWC), one of the representative Asian cooperative water platforms established from the initiative of the Republic of Korea, while sharing knowledge and expertise on solutions to Asian water problems, we hope to demonstrate a more concrete approach to implementing country-specific water projects.
