Education about past events goes beyond simply relaying events; it has the value of enabling future generations to reflect on the meaning of human rights and peace. Teaching and passing on the history of state violence, including the 4･3, to future generations can have the effect of continuing history as a social memory without severing it. This 4･3 Session will be a forum for public discussion that will explore new educational directions for each region and society to actively reflect on the history of state violence they have experienced.
