This session explores youth perspectives on the well-being of Asia-Pacific island communities through the lens of human security, which emphasizes both safety and dignity. It also examines how consular public diplomacy can help foster and sustain youth exchanges across the region. Particular attention will be given to climate and environmental challenges that threaten the sustainability of island communities, as well as efforts to preserve their cultural heritage. Participants will also discuss the importance of youth exchanges in addressing shared challenges, recognizing that the safety and well-being of island communities are closely interconnected. Furthermore, participants will explore how consular public diplomacy can foster long-term engagement among young people from island communities and develop practical recommendations for strengthening youth exchanges across the region.
