Biography

HA Bum Sig is Professor of Korean Studies in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literature at the University of Kaohsiung, where he also serves as Director of the Center for Korean Studies. He received his Ph.D. from the Graduate Institute of Development Studies at National ChengChi University in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2009. His research focuses on international relations in Northeast Asia, Korean Peninsula issues, and South Korea’s government and politics, with particular emphasis on South Korea–Taiwan relations and cross-strait relations. His work examines the intersection of regional geopolitics and domestic political dynamics in shaping foreign policy behavior. He has co-authored three books on South Korea–Taiwan relations, South Korea’s diplomatic policy, and Taiwan–China relations. He has also published extensively on South Korea’s foreign and domestic policies, Taiwanese politics, and cross-strait relations in leading academic outlets, including Chinese Political Science Review, publications of the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy, and Mainland China Studies.
