UNESCO’s thematic paper Culture and Climate Action: From Margins to Mainstream (2025) underscores that culture is not merely a victim of climate change but a vital component of resilience, adaptation, and innovation. The Art Charter for Climate Action (ACCA) under UNFCCC provides a collective platform to accelerate the global visual arts sector’s transition to net zero GHG emissions and to tap into the power of art to inspire climate action beyond the sector.
Against this backdrop, this parallel session Global Co-Creation: Artistic Response to Climate Emergency responds to the forum’s call for innovative cooperation in a fragmented world facing diverse challenges in peace and development agenda. Though often face systematic barriers including limited access to funding, platforms, and mentorship, young artists are uniquely positioned to lead this change. By convening young artists with proven experience in artistic collaboration to climate response, this parallel session aims to bridge the gaps and demonstrate how arts can equip youth with knowledge and networks to become proactive climate agents.
