Jeju, as a self-governing province, has been at the forefront of pursuing peaceful coexistence in the Korean Peninsula. It has more than 10 years of business experience with North Korea and has promoted exchanges with NK in various ways through mapping out a special program called the ‘5+1 project’ since 2014.
This session will look into the current economic situation of North Korea and the economic prospects of the Korean peninsula after lifting the sanctions. Then, it will be discussed how Jeju can play bigger roles in inter- Korean exchange and how it can be prepared for possible economic reform in North Korea.
