Arms Race in Northeast Asia and Cooperative Denuclearization of Korean Peninsula

The acceleration of North Korea’s nuclear development has increased instability in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia. North Korea’s nuclear advancement is linked to changes in its military strategy, external strategy, strategy vis-?-vis South Korea, and governing strategy. The strategic interests North Korea pursues through its nuclear weapons need to be reviewed and predicted by examining its nuclear and military strategies, external strategy, strategy on South Korea, and governing strategy.
This session focuses on examining the overall strategic changes across the nation caused by shifts in North Korea’s nuclear strategy and the technological evolution of tactical and strategic nuclear weapons and evaluating those changes in Northeast Asia and Korean Peninsula level, and discusses about cooperative denuclearization of Korean Peninsula.
