Biography
박형중 박사는 통일연구원의 석좌연구위원이다. 박형중 박사는 통일준비위원회의 전문위원과 한-독 통일외교 정책자문위원회 위원을 역임하였다. 박형중 박사의 주요 연구 분야는 북한의 정치, 경제, 외교 관계, 남북 관계, 비교 독재체제이다. 박형중 박사는 또한 아이젠하워 펠로우 재단의 연구위원(2002)과 브루킹스 연구소의 동아시아정책연구센터의 객좌연구위원(2006-2007)을 역임하였다. 박형중 박사는 다수의 국문/영문 연구 논문을 발표하였다. 최근 발간된 주요 영문 정책 논문으로는 State-Society Relations in North Korea (2018), Identifying Driving Forces for Changes and Policy Challenges on the Korean Peninsula (2015-2030) (2015), “Kim Jong-un’s Renewal of Nuclear Strategy and South Korea Policy since 2012” (2014), “The Purge of Jang Song-taek and the Competition for Regency during the Power Succession” (2013), Fiscal Fragmentation and Economic Changes in North Korea (2013)등이 있다.
Dr. Park, Hyeong-Jung is a distinguished research fellow at the Korea Institute for National Unification (KINU). His former positions included: Expert Member of Unification Preparation Committee; Member of ROKorea-FRGermany Joint Advisory Council on Foreign Policy for Unification. His main research covers politics, economy and foreign relations of North Korea, inter-Korean relations, and comparative dictatorships. He was an Eisenhower Fellow in 2002 and a visiting fellow at the Center for East Asia Policy Studies at Brookings from 2006-2007. He has written a number of books and research papers in Korean and English.
