Biography
Dr. Park, Hyeong-Jung is a distinguished research fellow at the Korea Institute for National Unification (KINU). His former positions included an expert Member of the Unification Preparation Committee and; Member of the ROKorea-FRGermany Joint Advisory Council on Foreign Policy for Unification. His main research covers politics, economy, and foreign relations of North Korea, inter-Korean relations, and comparative dictatorships. He was an Eisenhower Fellow in 2002 and a visiting fellow at the Center for East Asia Policy Studies at Brookings from 2006-2007. He has written a number of books and research papers in Korean and English. His recent policy papers and articles in English include State-Society Relations in North Korea (2018); Identifying Driving Forces for Changes and Policy Challenges on the Korean Peninsula (2015-2030) (2015); “Kim Jong-un’s Renewal of Nuclear Strategy and South Korea Policy since 2012” (2014); “The Purge of Jang Song-taek and the Competition for Regency during the Power Succession” (2013); Fiscal Fragmentation and Economic Changes in North Korea (2013).
