Biography
Ambassador LIM Sang-woo has been serving as Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy and Government Representative for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Korea since December 2025. Previously, Ambassador LIM served as Director-General of the North American Affairs Bureau (2021–2022), Director of the North America Division 1 (2014–2015), and Director of the Human Resources Division (2013–2014) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served at the Office of the President as Senior Officer in 2020 and as Senior Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2021. Ambassador LIM joined the Korean Foreign Service in 1996. During his diplomatic career, he has been posted to Korean missions in the United States, Iraq (Erbil Office), the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Brazil. He served as Ambassador to the Republic of Madagascar from 2018 to 2020, and as Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in New Delhi from 2023 to 2025. Ambassador LIM received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Seoul National University and a Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) from Georgetown University.
