The recent climate crisis and geopolitical conflicts have generated compounded challenges across global energy systems. Extreme weather events are increasingly damaging energy infrastructure and disrupting supply chains, leading to volatility in energy prices. In tandem with this, the geopolitical risks inherent in fossil fuel dependence continue to pose significant threats to energy security.
Moreover, as climate change accelerates, carbon neutrality has emerged as a key priority for the international community. Achieving carbon neutrality requires not only an energy transition but also an integrated combination of technologies and policies, including energy efficiency improvements, the deployment of high-efficiency equipment, the expansion of the use of electric vehicles, and optimization of heating and cooling systems in buildings.
This session aims to highlight the urgent need to address carbon neutrality and energy security simultaneously—two critical global challenges that must be pursued in parallel—and to explore strategic pathways to achieve objectives in both.
Furthermore, the session will provide an opportunity to discuss strategies for achieving carbon neutrality through a diverse range of technologies such as renewable energy and hydrogen, as well as policy instruments including energy efficiency measures and green finance, with a focus on international cooperation and collaborative responses.
