During the Cold War, the three countries, China, and Japan, had struggled over the past. And since the end of the Cold War, the three countries have made bilateral efforts to resolve the historical conflict. However, there are signs of increasing barriers between countries after Covid-19.
Therefore, this meeting examines the research activities of the Joint Committee on the History of Korea and Japan. In addition, we will refer to the research activities of the Sino-Japanese History Joint Committee conducted between China and Japan. These efforts will slightly alleviate the situation where nationalism has been strengthening since the coronavirus and will be a way to prevent the conflict of historical perception.
In addition, through such a meeting between the three countries in the era of COVID-19, we intend to create a channel for historical dialogue between Korea, China, Japan and the three countries surrounding historical issues, as an opportunity to proceed with the historical dialogue in Northeast Asia. This year, we intend to share and learn about the historical dialogue of the three countries through the Jeju Forum. At the same time, this session will be an opportunity for experts from three countries to share the history of the invasion of imperialism over the past century. In addition, we intend to use historical dialogue as an opportunity to establish a mechanism for achieving historical reconciliation through experience.
