The KORUS FTA has been revised. From free trade to protectionist trade, from globalization to anti-globalization, will the world economic order be reversed? The amendment of the KORUS FTA is one result that reflects this trend. To what degree will the revised KORUS FTA make trade relations between the two countries certain and predictable? The predictability and legitimacy of rules on trade in the global market are critical to every Korean and U.S. company. This panel will analyze the content and meaning of the revised KORUS FTA while also seeking to uncover avenues of cooperation between the two countries in key industries such as the automobile industry. This panel seeks to answer the following questions: What is the essence of the revised KORUS FTA and what are the new trade strategies for both countries hereafter? In the altered environment, what new trade policies can the Korean government and corporations choose to design and implement? Through this panel, we look forward to dialogue amongst our experts on their strategic thoughts and interesting ideas for the recovery of the trade order led by competition that promotes technological innovation and consumer interests and for the upgrading of the economic relations between Korea and the U.S.
