Biography
KIM Gunn is a Member of the 22nd National Assembly of the ROK (People Power Party, proportional representation), Chair of the International Affairs Committee of the People Power Party.
A veteran career diplomat, KIM entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after passing the 23rd Korean Foreign Service Examination in 1989. Over the course of his diplomatic career spanning more than 30 years, he served as Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs (Vice Minister-level) and Chief Negotiator for the North Korean Nuclear Issue, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United Kingdom, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director-General for North American Affairs, and Director-General of the Office of Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs. He is widely recognized as a leading expert on North Korean nuclear issues and international security affairs.
KIM graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Political Science and received a Master’s degree in Political Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
