Biography

With nearly three decades of distinguished international service at the highest levels of leadership, Siddharth CHATTERJEE currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Global Neighbours.

Most recently, he served as United Nations Resident Coordinator in China. As the U.N. Secretary- General’s senior-most representative in China, he led the United Nations in one of the world’s most strategically significant countries.

Mr. CHATTERJEE has held senior leadership roles across development, humanitarian response, peace operations, and diplomacy in some of the world’s most fragile contexts. His previous positions include U.N. Resident Coordinator in Kenya, UNDP Resident Representative, and UNFPA Representative. He has also served as Regional Director at UNOPS in Denmark, Chief of Staff for the U.N. Assistance Mission in Iraq, and in leadership roles with UNICEF across Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Indonesia, and U.N. Peacekeeping in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A defining milestone in his career was leading the demobilization of more than 3,500 child soldiers in South Sudan in 2001, an unprecedented humanitarian operation conducted during active conflict.

He also served as Chief Diplomat of IFRC based in Switzerland. Currently, Mr. CHATTERJEE is a Visiting Professor at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University. Mr. CHATTERJEE is a graduate of Princeton University.
