John DELURY
Biography
John DELURY is a historian of China and expert on U.S.–China relations and Korean Peninsula affairs. He is a Senior Fellow of the Asia Society and Visiting Research Fellow at Ewha Womans University in Seoul. John is the author of Agents of Subversion: The Fate of John T. Downey and the CIA’s Covert War in China (Cornell, 2022) and co-author, with Orville Schell, of Wealth and Power: China’s Long March to the Twenty-first Century (Random House, 2013), and contributes to Foreign Affairs, The New York Times, among others. In 2023, he wased as the inaugural Tsao Fellow in China Studies at the American Academy in Rome and remained in Italy as a visiting professor at Luiss University and John Cabot University. Previously, Dr. DELURY was Professor of Chinese Studies at Yonsei University’s Graduate School of International Studies for over a decade. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, and National Committee on North Korea, board member of the Pacific Century Institute, fellow of the Kennan Institute and European Centre on North Korean Studies, and regional editor at Global Asia. John received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in history from Yale University.
