Kozue Akibayashi is a Professor at the Graduate School of Global Studies, Doshisha University (Kyoto, Japan.) She is also a researcher/activist and has worked on the issue of gender and peace, militarism, and demilitarization of security from a feminist perspective. She has conducted action research on feminist peace movement in Okinawa, Japan and other parts of the world including Okinawa Women Act Against Military Violence who have problematized the problem of sexual violence by the US military in the host communities. She has been active in international civil society on gender and peace. She is currently International President of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), the oldest women’s international peace organization established in 1915 that has over 30 sections around the world. She is also on the steering committee of Women Cross DMZ, an international feminist peace organization that calls for peace on the Korean Peninsula. She was among the international delegation of 30 women who crossed the DMZ on the Korean Peninsula in 2015. She served on the advisory group for the Japanese government on National Action Plan for implementation of UNSCR 1325 in 2014. Kozue received M. Ed. and Ed.D. from Teachers College Columbia University (US.)

아키바야시 고즈에 일본 교토 도시샤 대학 글로벌 연구 대학원 교수는 연구자 및 운동가로도 활동하며 페미니스트 관점에서 젠더와 평화, 군국주의 및 안보 비무장화 문제를 다루고 있다. 미군에 의한 성폭력 문제를 이슈화시킨 ‘군사폭력에 맞선 오키나와 여성들의 행동’ 모임을 비롯하여 오키나와, 일본 및 기타 지역에서 페미니즘 평화 운동에 대한 실천 연구를 수행하고 있다. 젠더와 평화에 관련한 국제 시민 사회에서도 적극적으로 활동하고 있으며 1915년에 설립된 세계에서 가장 오래된 여성 평화 국제기구이자 전 세계 30개 이상의 섹션을 운영하고 있는 WILPF (Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom)의 국제 회장을 맡고 있다. 또한 한반도 평화를 요구하는 국제 페미니스트 평화 조직인 Women Cross DMZ의 운영위원회 임원이기도 하다. 2015년에는 한반도 비무장 지대를 건넜던 여성 대표단 30명 중의 한 사람이었고 2014년에 UNSCR 1325 이행을 위한 국가 행동 계획에 관한 일본 정부 자문단을 역임하기도 하였다. 미국 콜롬비아대학교 교육대학에서 석사와 박사 학위를 받았다.
