약력
Barry Welsh is an Assistant Professor at both Dongguk University and Ewha University in Seoul. He teaches in the English, Literature, Interpretation and Translation Department at Dongguk University and in the TESOL Department at Ewha University. He is also the Host and Organizer of both Seoul Book and Culture Club and Seoul Film Society. Seoul Book and Culture Club holds special meet the author events and has hosted award winning and best selling writers such as Ko Un, Shin Kyung-sook, Lee Chang-rae, Hwang Sok-yong, Suki Kim, Kim Young-ha and Gong Ji-young. Seoul Film Society screens classic Korean and British films on a monthly basis in central Seoul and has also hosted celebrated Korean film directors such as Park Kwang-su and Jeong Jae-eun. Previously, he was the first host of TBS eFM’s literature show ‘The Bookend’ and hosted ‘Barry’s Book Club’ on EBS FM’s Morning Special show. He was also one of the international panelists on Arirang TV show ‘Shooters.’ He regularly reviews books for 10 Magazine, Acta Koreana and the Journal of Korean and Japanese Cinema. He was also a columnist for the Hankook Ilbo and has written for Groove Korea, Seoul Selection, Korea Magazine and LIST Magazine. In Edinburgh, Scotland he worked at the Scottish Parliament. He has been living and teaching in Seoul for 8 years.
Mr. Welsh studied English Literature (BA Hons) as an undergraduate at the University of Liverpool, completed an MSc in Film Studies at the University of Edinburgh and holds an M.A. in TESOL and Applied Linguistics from Sookmyung Women’s University.
