Sirgoo Lee is the Co-CEO of Daum Kakao Corp, a mobile lifestyle platform company that formed through a merger of one of Korea’s leading web service companies, Daum Communications Corp, and Korea’s pioneer in mobile platform services, Kakao Corp.
He was named Co-CEO of Daum Kakao following the merger in October 1st 2014, after having spent three years as the co-CEO of Kakao, and three months as the VP and General Counsel of Kakao.
Prior to joining Kakao in August 2011, he served as the CEO of NHN USA, the US subsidiary of Korea’s Internet giant NHN that operates the nations dominant search portal and game portal. Before that, he served multiple roles within NHN, including VP & general counsel, and later as VP of overseas business development.
Previously, he worked as the senior attorney for IBM Korea and as staff counsel for IBM Asia Pacific from 1999 to 2004, and as an associate attorney at Weiss, Jensen, Ellis & Howard, P.C.
Lee has a B.A in East Asian History from Seoul National University, an M.A degree in Chinese History from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a J.D from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon.
