약력
연원호 박사는 미중 통상 및 경제안보 전문가로 현재 대외경제정책연구원(KIEP) 경제안보팀장을 맡고 있다. 연세대학교에서 영어영문학/동양사학을 전공 후, 미국 UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy에서 국제관계학 석사를, Stony Brook University에서 경제학 박사 학위를 받았다. 최근 연구로는 “미국 바이든 행정부의 대중국 정책 전망과 시사점”, ”미·중 간 기술패권 경쟁과 시사점” 등이 있다. 2022년 4월 윤석열 대통령 당선인의 한미 정책협의 대표단에 경제안보 담당으로 참여했으며, 현재 국가안보실 정책자문위원, 외교부 북미국 및 경제안보외교 자문위원으로 활동하고 있다.
Wonho YEON is a research fellow and head of the Economic Security Team at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP). He received his B.A. in East Asian History and English Literature from Yonsei University, M.A. in International Relations with a concentration in both Korea and Japan Studies from UC San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy, and Ph.D. in Economics from Stony Brook University.
His current research interests include U.S.-China trade conflict, U.S.-China technological rivalry, and economic security. His recent publications include: “The U.S. Leads China in the Chip Race” (GlobalAsia 2022), “U.S.-China Strategic Competition and Economic Security Strategy of Korea” (Wilson Center 2022), “Restructuring Global Supply Chains,” Korea’s Medium- and Long-Term Trade Strategies by Region and International Economic Cooperation Plans (KIEP 2021) and U.S.-China Technological Rivalry and Its Implications for Korea (KIEP 2020).
Currently, He is a member of the policy advisory committees for the National Security Office (Office of the President) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In April 2022, He was also a member of then-President-elect Yoon Suk Yeol’s R.O.K.-U.S. Policy Consultation Delegation, where he was in charge of economic security issues.
