캐서리나 포터는 2021년 11월 1일 오스나브뤼크 시장으로 취임했다. 시장 취임 전, 사회 및 시민 서비스 부문 시의원으로 2년간 활동했으며, 코로나 발생 초창기인 2020년 3월부터 코로나 위기대응팀 총괄자로 근무했다. 이 외에도 로워색소니주 행정체육통합부, 로워색소니주 교육부, 로워색소니주 교육기관장 등을 역임했다.
Katharina Pötter has been Mayor of Osnabrück since November 1, 2021. Two years prior to assuming office as Mayor, she was elected city councilor for the newly formed board department Social Affairs and Citizen Service. From March 2020, she also headed the Corona crisis team of the city of Osnabrück. Further cornerstones of her professional career were the Lower Saxony state school authority, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education and the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior, Sport and Integration.
