약력
루디거 프랭크는 한국 전문 경제학자이다. 그는 현재 비엔나 대학의 동아시아 경제와 사회 전공 교수이며 2012년부터 동아시아학부의 학과장을 맡고 있다. 그는 2011년부터 세계경제포럼(WEF)의 한반도 사업에 참여해왔다. 20년여 년을 동독과 소련에서 보냈고, 이후 30년을 서유럽과 미국, 동아시아에서 보낸 그는 국가사회주의의 정치경제와 그 변혁에 깊은 관심을 갖고 있다. 프랭크 교수는 1991년 평양에서 어학연수생으로 한 학기 동안 공부한 이후 북한을 연구해 왔다.
Rüdiger Frank is an Economist with a focus on Korea. He is currently a Professor of East Asian Economy and Society at the University of Vienna and has been heading the Department of East Asian Studies there since 2012. He has been involved in the work of the World Economic Forum on the Korean peninsula since 2011. Having spent the first two decades of his life in East Germany and the Soviet Union, and the next three decades in Western Europe, the US, and East Asia, he has a deep interest in the political economy of state socialism and its transformation. He has been researching North Korea since 1991, when he studied for one semester as a language student in Pyongyang.
