홍미화는 국민대학교 정치외교학과 조교수이다. University of Michigan, Ann Arbor에서 정치학 박사학위를, 연세대학교 국제학대학원에서 석사학위를, 연세대학교 문과대학에서 학사학위를 받았다. 주요 연구 분야는 국제인권제도 및 규범, 대량학살과 분쟁 후 정의에 중심을 둔 국제정치학, 국제법, 인간안보, 비교정치학이다. Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Human Rights, Journal of Peace Research, 및 International Interactions에 논문을 출간했다.
