약력

MOON Tae-young is President of the Jeju Peace Institute. He graduated from Seoul National University (BA in Linguistics) in 1978, and graduated from the Johns Hopkins University (M.A. in International Relations) in 1992. He passed High Diplomatic Service Examination and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978. In the Ministry, he served as Second Secretary of Korean Embassy in Canada(1980) and of Korean Embassy in the Kingdom of Thailand(1986), Director of Press and Public Affairs(1992), Director of Southeast Asia Division, Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau(1993), Counsellor of Korean Permanent Mission to the UN Secretariat and International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland(1994), Senior Research Officer of Department of National Security and Unification Studies, Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security(IFANS)(1997), Minister-Counsellor of Korean Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, U.S.A.(1999), Senior Research Officer of Department of National Security and Unification Studies, IFANS(2002), Deputy Director-General for International Organizations(2003), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Panama(2004), Director-General for the Department of Asian and Pacific Studies,IFANS(2007), Spokesperson and Deputy Foreign Minister(2008), and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany(2010-2012).
