스리프리야 란가나탄 대사는 델리 대학에서 근대사를 전공하며 역사학 석사를 취득한 직후, 1994년부터 인도 외무부에 입사하여 외교관으로서의 경력을 이어왔다. 양곤 주재 인도 대사관에서 부대사로 재직했으며, 앙카라 및 홍콩에서 근무한 경험도 있다. 또한, 인도 상공부 및 외무부에서 직무를 수행하며 다양한 분야에서 역량을 발휘하기도 했다. 특히, 외부무에서는 행정, 서유럽 및 군축&국제 안보부서에서 근무한 바 있다. 이전에는 SAARC 부서, 최근에는 방글라데시 및 미얀마 담당 부서에서 공동 국장을 역임했으며, 상무부로 파견되면서 수출장려부(농산품 & 무역 정책과)에서 일하기도 했다. 또한, 타밀어, 힌디어 및 영어를 구사하며 터키어에 대한 지식을 보유하고 있다. 특히, 여성의 리더십 및 여권신장에 대해 깊은 관심을 가지고 있으며 관련된 다양한 활동에 참여하고 있다. 또 다른 관심분야로는 독서, 하이킹, 여행, 요가 및 음악 등이 있다. 배우자는 금융 서비스 전문가인 무쿤드 산타남으로 슬하에 딸을 두고 있으며, 반려견과 함께 지내고 있다.
Her Excellency Sripriya Ranganathan is a career diplomat who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1994, immediately after obtaining her Masters’ Degree in History, with specialization in Modern Indian History, from Delhi University. Her Excellency Sripriya Ranganathan has served in Myanmar as the second in command at Embassy of India, Yangon. Her other overseas postings were in Ankara and Hong Kong. Her Excellency Sripriya Ranganathan has extensive experience in headquarters, having served in various capacities in the Ministry of External Affairs as well as in the Department of Commerce and Industry. In the Ministry of External Affairs, she has served in the Administration, Europe West and Disarmament & International Security Affairs Divisions. She has earlier served as Joint Secretary (Director General) of the SAARC Division and, most recently of the Bangladesh and Myanmar Division. In the course of her secondment to the Department of Commerce, she served in the Export Promotion (Agricultural Products & the Trade Policy Divisions). Her Excellency Sripriya Ranganathan speaks Tamil, Hindi and English and has some knowledge of Turkish. She is deeply interested in issues relating to women’s leadership and empowerment and tries to make time for activities related to these issues. Her other interests include reading, hiking, travelling, yoga and music. She is married to Mukund Santhanam who is a financial services professional. They have one daughter. They also have a dog.
