Dr. CHOI obtained his Honours Degree in Oceanography from Jeonnam National University, and Master degree at the department of Marine Biology, Pukyoung National University, Korea. His Doctor of Philosophy project on the ‘The effects of density on algal competition in culture and the field’ was conducted at Liverpool University, United Kingdom.
He has been working at the Faculty of Biological Science, Wonkwang University, since 2002. His research fields include developing seaweed cultivation techniques and monitoring the change of the macroalgal community. He is also interested in screening the bioactivity of seaweed extracts for antioxidant, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. He has published more than 100 papers in domestic and international journals.
