Sebastien Berger is one of only a handful of international journalists who have regular access to North Korea. As Seoul bureau chief for the international newswire AFP – which has a bureau in Pyongyang - he is responsible for its coverage of both halves of the peninsula, and has visited the North 14 times since 2017.
AFP (Agence France-Presse) is the world's longest-running news agency. Every day its words and images reach millions of readers and viewers via hundreds of media, broadcast and online clients.
Previously based in Beijing, Hong Kong, Johannesburg and Bangkok, Sebastien has reported from more than 30 countries throughout Asia and around the world, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, and has 20 years experience in journalism. He is also president of the Seoul Foreign Correspondents’ Club.
