약력
신기욱(Gi-Wook Shin)은 스탠퍼드대학교(Stanford University) 사회학과 현대한국 석좌교수(William J. Perry Professor of Contemporary Korea)이자, 월터 쇼렌스타인 아시아태평양연구센터(Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center) 소장, 한국연구프로그램(Korea Program) 창립 소장, 프리먼 스포글리 국제문제연구소(Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies) 선임연구원이다. 그는 역사비교 및 정치사회학자로서, 사회운동, 민족주의, 발전, 국제관계에 대한 연구에 집중해온 학자이다. 현재는 아시아태평양 지역 내 인재 이동(talent flows)에 관한 장기 연구 프로젝트와 1980년대 미·일 관계와 오늘날 미·중 관계를 비교하는 연구를 수행 중이다.
