Despite no progress in resolving the North Korean nuclear quagmire since the Hanoi setback in February 2019, the new US administration offers the hope of a possible negotiated settlement. This expert panel will focus on outlining the new Biden administration’s DPRK policy and the future of US- DPRK relations. Fundamental questions on the past and present US administration's ability to make progress will be addressed, including through the management of the North Korean problem through maximum pressure and deterrence, simultaneous pursuit of denuclearization and the human rights agenda, the crime and punishment approach, and the chronic intelligence failure on North Korea.
