At the ROK-US summit meeting held by President Moon’s visit to Washington D.C. (from May 19 – 21), two leaders discussed the ways to address global issues such as COVID-19 response, climate change, space, and science & technology. In particular, major outcomes in those areas include agreement on establishing the KORUS Global Vaccine Partnership, strengthening their cooperation in space issues by ROK’s participation in the Artemis Accords, pledging the practical cooperation for responding to the climate crisis and reinforcing their partnership on emerging technologies.
This session will review the outcomes of the ROK-US summit in the context of science and technology, and discuss the way forward to ROK’s science and technology diplomacy through bilateral cooperation between both countries in the process of their implementations.
