East Asia is a very densely populated area where one-third of the world’s human population resides. The adjacent seas are highly productive and generate the largest fishery yields in the world, which in turn support the high consumption of fish products by residents of the surrounding countries. Recently, however, the rapid population and economic growth has threatened food security and the sustainability of marine ecosystems. In this session, we will discuss the effect of climate change on fisheries in the region to suggest adaptation approaches and policies for international organizations and local governments.
남북극과 고산지대의 빙하감소 등으로 전 지구적 해양순환대류의 급격한 변화에 따른 이상기후 발생과 육지 및 해양 환경 생태계의 예측 곤란한 방향으로의 변동이 동아시아 해양어종의 다양성에 상당한 영향을 미치고 있습니다.
이번 세션에서는 해양환경의 변화가 어종의 다양성에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는 지와 그러한 다양성을 긍정적이고 지속 가능한 활용과 보존으로 연결해낼 수 있는 방안이 무엇인지를 논의하게 될 것입니다.
