Business management as an academic discipline is an applied science; it pursues action-oriented agenda setting and practical answers. To that end, business management looks to scientific analysis, but at the same time an appreciation of humanities is a
must as it also studies socio-cultural backgrounds and personal motivation in relation to product purchase and organizational
activities. Furthermore, business management addresses values and responsibilities related to the activities of countries, societies, firms, and non-profit organizations; it even requires artistic quality linked to creative understanding and problem solving. This session will take stock of business management as a science of convergence and discuss its future. Professors at aSSIST from various disciplinary backgrounds, including engineering, social science, philosophy, humanities, and the arts, will talk about their experiences in teaching business management, diagnose the current situation, and share
their ideas for innovation.
