Peace studies are facing a turning point with the beginning of the 21st century. Prior to, and shortly after the post-cold war era, peace based on military conflicts was the main issue of peace studies. Now, the concept of peace has become very complex, with evolving concepts of human security, as well as its traditional meaning. The session on peace studies is organized by the Peace Research Institute of Oslo, the Center for International Area Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and the Jeju Peace Institute.
- Specialists in this session will discuss the international trends of peace studies and the current status of peace studies in East Asia.
- Based on the reviews of peace studies, this session incorporates philosophical thoughts, theoretical ideas, and field activities in conflict areas.
- The inclusive approaches from peace studies will provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills that contribute to resolving conflicts in East Asia and around the world
