Biography
OK Gwang is a scholar based in Cheongju, South Korea, who has made significant contributions to the fields of sports history and physical education through his academic research, administrative leadership, and professional service. He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Gyeongsang National University in 1997 and went on to complete both his Master’s (1999) and Ph.D. (2004) in the history of sport at the University of Strathclyde in the UK. At Chungbuk National University, he has served in various key roles including Chair of the Department of Physical Education, Dean of Graduate Studies, Director of the Institute for Lifelong Education, Director of the Global Education Center, Associate Dean of the College of Education, and currently as Dean of the Institute for Lifelong Education. His leadership extends to professional academic societies, having served as Senior Vice President of the Korean Society for the History of Physical Education, Secretary-General of the Korean Golf Association, Director of Academic Affairs of the Korea Martial Arts Association, and President and Chair of the Academic Committee of the Korean Society of Physical Education. Since 2023, he has served as an International Director of the Korean Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (KAHPERD), demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field of physical education both nationally and internationally.
