MOON Sungyu was born in 1964 in Yongdam-dong, Jeju City. He passed the Korean Public Administration Examination in 1989 and held various key positions within the Ministry of Economy and Finance, specializing in budget and policy planning. He concluded his public service career as Director General of the Office of Planning and Coordination in December 2019. He was subsequently appointed Chairman and CEO of the Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO), dedicating two years to supporting businesses and households impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In April 2022, he ran in the party primary for Governor of Jeju Province but was not nominated. Since then, he has resided in Jeju, actively involved in regional economic development. He is the author of “MOON Sungyu’s New Normal Era and the Future of Jeju.”
