Biography

Marc JULIENNE is the Director of the Center for Asian Studies at the French Institute of International Relations (Ifri). His expertise lies in China’s foreign and security policy, as well as broader strategic issues. He holds a Ph.D. in political science and international relations from the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO, Paris), where he now teaches international relations in Northeast Asia (Master’s Degree in International Relations). Before joining Ifri in 2020, Marc was a Research Fellow at the Foundation for Strategic Research (FRS, Paris) and Asia Center (Paris). He has also been a Visiting Fellow at several institutions, including the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS, Berlin, 2015), the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS, Shanghai, 2017), and the Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR, Taipei, 2023).
