Currently the 22nd member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and serves as the chairman of the Chungcheongnam-do Party of the Democratic Party of Korea. Elected the mayor of Asan, South Chungcheong Province in 2004 and served as re-elected mayor until 2018. During the Asan City administration for eight years, he developed various regional development achievements by discovering and implementing regionally customized autonomous administrative policies. Afterwards, he was appointed as President MOON Jae-in's secretary for political affairs and participated in state affairs at the Blue House, and served as chief of staff to the Speaker of the National Assembly in the first half of the 21st National Assembly, taking responsibility for the overall operation of the National Assembly. With the capabilities he have accumulated through his experiences in administration and legislative affairs, he plan to carry out legislative activities for autonomy and decentralization and balanced regional development in the National Assembly as a member of the 22nd National Assembly.
